Donald Trump told reporters on Air Force One this past Sunday that he doesn’t think he’s getting into heaven.

Fox’s Peter Doocy asked Trump about comments he made in August about how he is trying to broker peace between Russia and Ukraine in order to “try and get to heaven if possible.”

“I’m hearing I’m not doing well. I am really at the bottom of the totem pole,” he said at the time. “But if I can get to heaven, this will be one of the reasons.”

Doocy asked Trump if he thought his more recent actions would help him get into heaven.

“You know, I’m being a little cute,” he said. “I don’t think there’s anything gonna get me into heaven, Ok? I really don’t. I think, I think I’m maybe not heaven-bound, I may be in heaven right now as we fly in Air Force One. I’m not sure I’m gonna be able to make heaven.”

It’s not clear if he was referring to his close friendship and “certain things in common” he has with convicted child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, his sexual violation of author E. Jean Carroll, his payment of hush money to an adult actress he had an affair with, his incitement of an insurrection that left five people dead, or any of the other crimes he has either been found guilty of or liable for or been accused of.

Many liberals and LGBTQ+ people agreed with Trump’s assessment. Others pointed out that conservative Christians flocked to Trump in the last three presidential elections despite the fact that he doesn’t seem to care much about their beliefs on the afterlife.

And some people pointed out that he has been talking about whether he’s going to heaven a lot lately, perhaps signaling that there is something wrong with his health. Although it should be noted that here he was asked about his heaven comments by Doocy, so he wasn’t speaking on the topic unprompted.
