A video of a customer berating and misgendering a Burger King worker recently went viral. The customer tried to get the owner on her side, but instead, she just got kicked out of the fast-food restaurant.

The video, shot from the customer’s point of view, opens with the customer demanding to know a worker’s name at a Kansas Burger King. The worker has a trans flag pin on.

The customer complains that Lily called her “sir” too, and Lily says that’s because the customer called her “young man” even though “I politely corrected you multiple times.”

“You don’t get to correct me!” the customer says. “I will address you as what I see!”

Lily tried to ignore her, but the customer kept on ranting. Then the owner came to talk to the customer.

“I’m a First Amendment lawyer,” the customer claimed, apparently never having learned that the First Amendment only restrains the government from impeding on free speech, not private businesses.

“I’ve been a patron of Burger King for many, many years,” the customer bragged, saying that one of the items in her order was accidentally left out. She said she came back to get the item, and she said, “Thank you, young man,” to Lily, even though she didn’t need to include any gendered term while thanking Lily.

“He became very angry and said, ‘I’m not a young man,'” the customer told the owner, very offended by what had transpired. “I said, ‘Sir, I call you what I see,’ and he said, ‘In that case, thank you, sir,’ and shut the window.”

“I am clearly a woman!” she said, apparently expecting the owner to stand up for her.

But the owner took Lily’s side, correcting the customer and saying that Lily’s a “young lady.”

“We do not condone being rude to guests,” the owner said. “But we just hope our guests don’t insult our team members either.”

The customer started to complain, and the owner told her, “I’m gonna ask you to leave because we do— This is private property. I do have the right to ask you to leave.”

“Who is your director?” the customer demanded. “Who do you report to?”

“I’m the owner,” she responded.

So here’s what went down.
Customer walks in, sees employee Lily, and calls her sir.
Lily calmly says, “I’m a female.”
Customer snaps back: “I’ll call you what I want. You look like a man.”
Then demands the manager.
Plot twist? The manager is the owner.
She tries to flex: “I’ve… pic.twitter.com/Pkz5f5TmqF
