First look at Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon season three is driving sapphics wild
November 22 2025, 08:15

The first look at Emma D’Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon season 3 has been released and it’s driving sapphic fans wild.

Based on George R. R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, major confrontations are to be expected in season 3, including the fall of King’s Landing.

HBO has released the first official images of House of the Dragon season 3, revealing Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) and Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) as they prepare for battle. Another image shows Daemon leading his army on the battlefield in the Riverlands.

But it’s the image of Rhaenyra looking down at her crown, which she inherited from her father, King Viserys I Targaryen, that has sapphics going wild online.

House of Dragon’s X account captioned the image “For the crown at any cost”.

“NOT A SINGLE BAD ANGLE THATS MOTHER,” one person wrote of the released photo of Rhaenyra.

“The damn queen,” someone else commented under House of Dragon’s post.

A different comment gushed: “Emma D’Arcy really the actor of all time. The way that one still can convey so much about Rhaenyra’s inner turmoil at finally holding the crown/mentally weighing what it has already cost her.”
