Model Alex Consani – who has walked the runway for Tom Ford, Chanel, and Victoria’s Secret – has won the title of Model of the Year at the 2024 Fashion Awards in London.
“I’m the first trans woman to win this award,” she said to cheers at the Royal Albert Hall on Monday night. “But I can’t accept this award without thanking all those that came before me and specifically the Black trans women who really fought for the space.”

She also thanked her parents for being supportive of her identity and her career choice.

“That’s something, I think, a lot of other parents of trans children should follow,” she said. “It gives children a foundation to love and support and makes them want to support themselves and love themselves, even when it’s not celebrated by most.”
She closed with a call for people in the fashion industry to support one another.
“Now more than ever, it’s an important conversation that should be had about how to truly support and uplift one another within this industry, especially those who have been made to feel insignificant,” Consani said. “Because change is more than possible, it’s needed. And this is a big step in the right direction.”
Consani signed with IMG Models in 2019 and built a following on social media, getting almost four million followers on TikTok. She walked the runway for the first time for Tom Ford in 2021 and later walked for Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, and Versace.
In October, she became the first trans model to walk the runway at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show along with Brazilian model Valentina Sampaio.
