A woman complained after at school board meeting after a queen teacher brought brownies baked by his husband to class.
Margie Massoudi made the comments at a school board meeting in Duval County Public Schools district, in Jacksonville, Florida, last week. She criticised teacher Steven Isicoff after he said his husband had baked the treat for his pupils and that his students knew he was queer.
Massoudi recited Bible verse Matthew 18:6, saying: “Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and be drowned in the depth of the sea,” to claim that Isicoff’s visibility as a queer teacher was inappropriate for children.
Isicoff, who has taught in the district for seven years, said at an earlier meeting: “I’m queer without me needing to say it… when I bring in brownies, I get to tell my students that my husband made those.”

In August, a non-binary elementary-school teacher, who goes by Teacher Robi on TikTok, went viral on the platform for explaining their pronouns in class. The video is captioned: “This year, I’m recreating it so other non-binary teachers can use it too.
“I am non-binary, my pronouns are they/them.” Robi then explained their pronouns, giving examples of how they are used: “For example: ‘They are a great art teacher. They taught us how to draw Stitch’,” he said.
“It is very important to get our pronouns right. If you do make a mistake, I will politely correct you, no worries. That goes for me too: if I ever get your pronouns wrong, please correct me every time.”
