Out professional wrester Kendo Nagasaki has become the oldest male procession wrestler ever to take part in a match.
On Sunday (23 November), at British independent promotion LDN Wrestling’s event in Croydon the wrestler, whose name outside of the ring is Peter Thornley, stepped into the ring at the age of 84, in his bid to break a Guinness World Record as the oldest professional wrestler in the world.
Titled “The Final End of the Feud”, Thornley, Ben Nelson and Jordan Nelson went up against Sage Valentine, Stevie Fee and Sanjay Bagga in an elimination trios match. The match marked Nagasaki’s final time in the ring.
Thornley scored the deciding pinfall after managing to influence Fee to his side.
The bout came nearly one year to the day from Thornley’s first match in 16 years, which was part of an application for a Guinness World Record.
The 2024 match, which also took place at LDN Wrestling and featured many of the same people, saw Nagasaki claim the title of the oldest male professional to wrestle in a match in British and European professional wrestling history.
He told The Sun: “It was a fantastic feeling and it’s truly fabulous to be a Guinness World Record breaker.
“It was hard work in that ring, they’re all young and very enthusiastic, you’ve got to keep them under control, under manners.
“But it was like turning the clock back being out there in front of so many people, it was electric, the roar of the crowd was incredible.
