Hobbycraft apologise after woman claims she was ‘ejected’ for objecting to ‘No TERFs’ badge
October 29 2025, 08:15

Craft supply store Hobbycraft has apologised after a woman claimed she was “ejected” from the store for objecting to a “No TERFs” badge.

TERF is an acronym for a trans-exclusionary radical feminist, who narrows down the definition of a woman to their birth sex. In doing so, they negate transgender individuals’ legitimacy in their self-identification and, specifically, deny trans women access to women-only spaces.

Bex, a self-proclaimed regular customer, took to X/Twitter to reveal the incident that occurred at a branch in Dundee, in Scotland, on Sunday (26 October). She claimed that she and her partner were “ejected” from the store after questioning a member of staff who was wearing a badge that read “No Terfs, No Tories.”

“[The manager] was clearly ejecting us on the grounds of our gender-critical beliefs,” Bex wrote, adding that she felt she should be allowed to go about her day “without being subjected to discrimination because of my beliefs”.

Bex captioned the post: “Staff member wore [the] badge as part of her uniform. We confronted the badge. We got chucked out for doing so.”

The tweet, which has attracted more than 400 comments and been viewed some 620,000 times, was picked up by gender-critical group For Women Scotland, who described the incident as “unlawful discrimination”.

Hobbycraft responded under For Women Scotland’s post, writing: “We’re aware of concerns raised about our Dundee store and are in contact with the customer involved. An internal investigation is underway. We remain committed to fostering an inclusive environment for all.”

At Hobbycraft, we remain committed to fostering an inclusive environment for all. We’re aware of concerns raised about our Dundee store and are in contact with the customer involved. An internal investigation is underway.

A spokesperson for the store told PinkNews: “We are aware of the incident and are taking the matter seriously. We’re sorry that the customer was asked to leave the store, have apologised and will remain in contact with the customer throughout this process.”
