Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) appears to be having a bit of a change of heart lately, criticizing her own party for closing down the House of Representatives, calling them out for having no plan to improve health care access, and even criticizing House Speaker Mike Johnson for not swearing in Represetnative-elect Adelita Grijalva (D-AZ), who was elected over a month ago.

But her Democratic colleague, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), isn’t going to accept Greene’s new rhetoric without pointing out that Greene has been responsible for many of the problems she is criticizing now.

“I don’t understand why she didn’t do the right thing when she had the chance,” Crockett said on CNN’s Laura Coates Live yesterday.

Host Laura Coates played a clip from a CNN interview with Greene. During that interview, the Georgia congresswoman lambasted her fellow Republicans for not having a “good solution” for health insurance affordability and for closing the House of Representatives during the shutdown, something that isn’t required. She also praised former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) because she “accomplished more for her party than I’ve seen our speaker accomplish for ours.”

The rhetoric is surprising from the far-right congresswoman, but Crockett pointed out that Greene has a long way to go before her newfound populist rhetoric is believable. Crockett pointed to the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which passed earlier this year and includes cuts to Medicaid and Affordable Care Act insurance.

“Hell must have frozen over, because we are agreeing more than we’re not,” Crockett said of Greene. “But I will tell you that while there is a new Marjorie Taylor Greene, as some people have said, the reality is that the Big Ugly Bill, it only passed with one vote. And if one more Republican would have defected — which we had maybe two Republicans that defected — if we would have just had one more, then we would not be talking about higher insurance premiums [now].”

“Marjorie Taylor Greene voted for this, point-blank period,” Crockett continued. “Her constituents were the ones that were on the receiving end of this. In fact, I’m sure that we can find tape in committee of me going down and talking about how many people in their Republican districts … how many children were going to lose health care because of that bill.”

“Now maybe she didn’t care about those on Medicaid and Medicare, and Democrats spent a lot of time talking about the fact that these 15 to 17 million were going to lose their health care, but they didn’t fully understand that when you remove $1 trillion from the health care ecosystem, everybody else has to pay in,” Crockett added.
