Internationally acclaimed dancer John Lam, who concluded a distinguished 21-year tenure as a principal with Boston Ballet in spring 2024, announces the launch of his new company, Lam Dance Works. With a vision to bring world-class choreographers and celebrated dancers into intimate settings that connect more deeply with audiences, Lam Dance Works will make its debut with Act II: An Intimate Evening of Dance – Where Tradition Inspires Transformation on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 7 p.m. on the Richard Orchard Stage at the Paramount Center. Born out of Lam’s two decades as one of Boston’s most admired artists, Lam Dance Works is envisioned as a platform for innovation and community connection, where world-renowned choreographers collaborate with celebrated dancers to create transformative experiences. Its mission is to ignite creativity, inspire audiences, and nurture dance as both a personal and collective force.

The inaugural program, Act II, gathers many of the choreographers and artists who shaped Lam’s own journey and continue to inspire him. Highlights include the American premiere of Peggy Baker’s Night Sky; a revival work by Val Caniparoli, one of America’s most sought-after choreographers; and a newly commissioned Bach solo created for Lam by longtime collaborator Jorma Elo, capturing the dynamic creativity born of their twenty-year artistic relationship. The program also includes work by Swiss choreographer Ken Ossola, known for his soulful and instinctive style; Complexions Contemporary Ballet artistic director Dwight Rhoden, celebrated for his dynamic and powerful movement language; and Spanish-born choreographer Yury Yanowsky, whose provocative new work makes its Boston debut. Brady Farrar, an emerging young choreographer and dancer with American Ballet Theatre, will also offer a striking work for Boston audiences.

Sharing the stage with Lam will be an international cast that reflects the company’s expansive vision. Featured artists include Korean soloist SunMi Park; Joseph Markey of American Ballet Theatre; Italian dancer Vincenzo Di Primo, formerly of Complexions Contemporary Ballet;Reed Henry of Joffrey Ballet; and Ballet RI dancers Tara McCally and Styles Dykes. They will be joined by a group of postgraduate and current dancers from Juilliard and Boston Conservatory at Berklee, with more performers to be announced.

With Act II, Lam Dance Works signals its commitment to artistic excellence and innovation while honoring the traditions and relationships that defined Lam’s career. The evening marks not only the beginning of a new company, but also a thrilling new chapter for one of Boston’s most celebrated dancers.
