Another artist has pulled out of a Kennedy Center performance due to the administration’s takeover of the hallowed institution.

Philip Glass, the legendary and hugely influential composer, was supposed to premiere his latest work, Symphony No. 15, “Lincoln,” at the Kennedy Center in June. Instead, he’s canceling the performance, saying that the work is intended to be an homage to Abraham Lincoln and “the values of the Kennedy Center today are in direct conflict with the message of the Symphony.”

“Therefore, I feel an obligation to withdraw this Symphony premiere from the Kennedy Center under its current leadership.”

Glass is known for his Grammy-winning symphonies, film scores (including The Truman Show and Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters), and operas like Einstein on the Beach.

He is just the latest artist to pull out of a Kennedy Center performance due to the current administration’s management of it. Others included Grammy-winning folk artist Bela Fleck and the Washington National Opera.
