Marjorie Taylor Greene & Trump whine about Fox News poll showing Biden beating Trump
June 21 2024, 08:15

Far-right anti-LGBTQ+ Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and former President Donald Trump have accused Fox News of broadcasting an inaccurate poll after a recent survey from the right-wing media outlet showed President Joe Biden beating former Trump in the 2024 presidential election.

The poll, which surveyed over 1,1 registered voters from June 14 to 17, found Biden leading Trump nationally by 2% and among independent voters by 9% — an 11% shift from the 2% of independents that favored Trump in May. Additionally, the poll found 50% of rural voters supporting Biden and only 48% supporting Trump. It also found Biden getting 57% of support from respondents over age 64 and 64% from white women with educational degrees.

Greene is correct that her district — which is 40% rural — has solidly voted for Trump by margins of nearly 75% in 2016 and 2020. But despite this, only abut 40% of her state is rural, and Biden won her state in 2020 by 11,779 votes.

She may have also overlooked that the poll has a margin of error of 3%, meaning that Trump may actually be ranking just above Biden among rural voters.
