
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has continued to shock America with her public criticism of both Donald Trump and the broader Republican party. She has remained unflinchingly loyal to both until now.
But recently, Greene took it all a step further by actually apologizing for the inflammatory rhetoric for which she has become so well known and for claiming she is ready to “put down the knives in politics” to help the country come together.

In an appearance on CNN, she did not try to defend her past words stoking hate and violence and instead declared, “I would like to say humbly, I’m sorry for taking part in the toxic politics. It’s very bad for our country.”
“I think America needs to come together and end all the toxic, dangerous rhetoric and divide,” she added, “and I’m leading the way with my own example. I hope President Trump can do the same.”

Many have praised her for taking these steps, while others have expressed a bit more caution about readily accepting this radical, quite sudden transformation as real.
On social media, the international media collective DD Geopolitics noted that caution is completely fair, but also praised Greene for taking the steps she has.
“Getting on opposition media and apologizing is HUGE,” the account wrote. “She should be commended for her humility.” The account also called her “the first MAGA figure to break the cycle of escalation and publicly ask Trump to change.”
