You’ve seen him all over social media—not to mention Netflix, where he brought his standup comedy to Stand Out: An LGBTQ+ Celebration alongside comedy legends like Lily Tomlin, Eddie Izzard and Wanda Sykes. He’s Matteo Lane, and the former opera singer uses his voice to do more than crack jokes about every aspect of gay life, from top to bottom: he uses it to represent a new generation of queer comedians who are making their mark everywhere, from memes to streaming services to live shows, including a set in Provincetown this summer.
