Conservative broadcaster Megyn Kelly discussed whether convicted child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein was “not a pedophile” because he enjoyed sex with 15-year-old children instead of 5-year-old children.
In the Wednesday edition of The Megyn Kelly Show on Sirius XM satellite radio, Kelley said, “Like, he liked 15-year-old girls. And I realize this is disgusting. I’m definitely not trying to make an excuse for this. I’m just giving you facts, that he wasn’t into, like, 8-year-olds. But he liked the very young teen types that could pass for even younger than they were, but would look legal to a passerby.”

It’s unclear how Kelley knows how old all of Epstein’s child rape victims might’ve appeared to passersby.
“We have yet to see anybody come forward and say, ‘I was under 10, I was under 14 when I first came within his purview.’ You can say that’s a distinction without a difference. I think there is a difference… between a 15-year-old and a 5-year-old, you know?” she continued.

Holy crap, the LOOOONG silence after Megyn Kelly spends 2 minutes explaining to Batya why maybe Jeffrey Epstein is "not a pedophile":

MEGYN KELLY: As for Epstein, I've said this before, but just as a reminder, I do know somebody very, very close to this case who is in a position… pic.twitter.com/Uk7QiIhSoh
Kelley’s musings are actually similar to a point recently made by comedian Gianmarco Soresi.
Soresi noted that there’s a technical difference between pedophiles, who are sexually attracted to children who have not gone through puberty; hebephiles, who are sexually attracted to children in early adolescence, between ages 11 and 14; and ephebophiles, who are sexually attracted to children in late adolescence, between ages 15 and 18.
“I think the reason we don’t make those distinctions [between pedophiles, hebephiles, and ephebophiles] is because it’s very hard to explain the difference without sounding like a pedophile,” Soresi joked in a video he recently posted to Bluesky.
His comment highlights the fact that pedophile is widely used as a catch-all term for any adult sexually attracted to children below the age of 18, the national age of consent. The other terms Soresi mentioned aren’t well-known enough to be widely understood or used.
The lowest age of consent nationwide, in 31 states, is 16.
