Multiple award-winning ‘Wicked’ star Cynthia Erivo coming to Tanglewood
January 27 2026, 08:15

Emmy, Tony, Grammy-winning, two-time Oscar nominee and LGBTQ+ pioneer in the performing arts Cynthia Erivo will perform with the Boston Pops at Tanglewood this summer, and tickets go on sale today.

Reports the Boston Globe:

On Aug. 21, Erivo will perform as part of Tanglewood’s popular artist series, joining conductor Anthony Parnther and music director Mark G. Meadows at the upcoming show. The performance marks Erivo’s reunion with the Boston Pops after a sold-out show with conductor Keith Lockhart at Symphony Hall in May.

Erivo recently starred alongside Ariana Grande in the two-part “Wicked” film adaptation, a role that earned her a third Academy Award nomination. In 2020, she received Oscar nominations for best actress in a leading role and best original song for “Harriet.”

Erivo has also won Grammy, Tony, and Emmy awards for her performance in the Broadway revival of “The Color Purple.” Earlier this year, she received a second Golden Globe nomination for “Wicked: For Good.”

In 2025, Erivo was recognized as Hasty Pudding Theatrical’s Woman of the Year for her “lasting and impressive contributions to the world of entertainment.” At the event, Erivo told the Globe how she felt about the recognition.

“It means a great deal actually because theater doesn’t really leave you,” she said. “To still be awarded for things that I’ve done on stage means a great deal because it means it’s still shining through, and that’s quite nice.”
