Former speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has won reelection in her very blue district. This is the 20th time she has won an election to Congress.
Pelosi, 84, is a longtime LGBTQ+ ally, starting when she first showed up in Congress in the late 1980s and demanded the federal government fight the AIDS epidemic.
She served as speaker and as the leader of House Democrats until 2023, when she passed the torch on to Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY).
