Nicki Minaj slammed for supporting Trump’s anti-trans, anti-immigrant policies

Nicki Minaj appeared to endorse the White House’s use of her music this week when she reposted a TikTok clip touting the Trump administration’s anti-trans and anti-immigrant agenda set to her 2012 single “Va Va Voom.”

The post, shared by the White House’s official TikTok account earlier this week, shows three slides. The first features a color photo of President Donald Trump from behind with the words “2025 will be my year!” superimposed over the image. The third slide shows a black-and-white photo of Trump striding toward the camera, with a list of his priorities and accomplishments, including “No men in women’s sports,” “Criminal illegals are being deported,” and “World peace.”

“2025 has been our year,” the post’s caption reads, “All we needed was a new president.”

Minaj reposted the clip to her own official TikTok account.

Notably, the White House post also appears to misuse a recently resurfaced meme. The post’s second slide shows a screenshot of director Robert B. Weide’s credit from the closing titles of the long-running HBO sitcom Curb Your Enthusiasm. TikTok users frequently post the “Directed by Robert B. Weide” image between an image indicating their good intentions and one showing their disastrous or disappointing outcomes.

According to Entertainment Weekly, neither Minaj nor the White House has commented on her repost. The “Starships” rapper’s fans, however, are making their own disappointment known.

“Nicki Minaj being a transphobe was not on my 2025 bucket list, but I’m actually not surprised,” one X user posted.

As Entertainment Weekly notes, others blasted the hypocrisy of Minaj’s seeming endorsement of Trump’s immigration policies, when she herself revealed in 2018 that she’d been brought to the U.S. illegally from Trinidad and Tobago when she was just 5 years old.

“nicki minaj [sic] being an undocumented immigrant herself with a poc and queer fanbase is shamelessly reposting xenophobic and transphobic white supremacist propaganda,” another user wrote on X. “She’s really going out sad.”

“How are you an immigrant supporting this man,” another X user posted. “She’s weird asf.”

The “Va Va Voom” clip is the most recent indication of Minaj’s apparent support for Trump. Earlier this month, she took to X to express her “gratitude” that the administration had designated Nigeria a “Country of Particular Concern” due to the alleged “mass slaughter” of Christians at the hands of “radical Islamists” in the West African nation, and raged at a gay fan who criticized her.

Minaj’s post seems to have gotten the MAGA world’s attention. On November 1, United Nations Ambassador Mike Waltz extended an invitation for the “Super Bass” rapper to speak with him at the U.S. Embassy to the United Nations in New York, with Minaj responding that she would be “honored.”

On November 3, the White House’s official TikTok account posted a video featuring clips of the President and First Lady Melania Trump set to a viral mash-up of Minaj’s “Beez in the Trap” and 4 Non Blondes’ “What’s Up.” Minaj shared the post on X, writing, “The President & First Lady of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Barbz, idk which one of you uploaded this to the white house TikTok but just know unlimited backstage GAG CITY FOR LIFE.”
