Polls show most Americans despise ICE: “ICE and Trump are losing the argument”

CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten detailed just how much Americans hate ICE right now, and how far the president has fallen in immigration approval ratings as a result of the terror campaign he’s waged in blue cities.

“Americans at this point do not like ICE, and that is very different from what we saw during Donald Trump’s first term,” Enten said. He said Americans felt relatively “lukewarm” toward ICE in Trump’s first term, giving it a net approval rating of zero. Now, that approval rating has plummeted to negative 17.

Additionally, Enten said 51% of Americans believe ICE is making cities less safe, compared to 31% who believe it’s making them safer. 52% of Americans also say Trump has gone too far in deporting undocumented immigrants, compared to 45% who felt this way in February of 2025.

Trump is also not faring well on overall immigration approval ratings. In March, he was at plus three points. Now, he’s “way underwater” at minus 16, Enten said.

“The bottom line is this: ICE and Trump are losing the argument when it comes to the American people,” Enten said. “They don’t like this immigration enforcement, and it is costing Trump political points.”

The Trump administration’s attempt to carry out the most extensive deportation campaign in American history has resulted in a slew of unconstitutional arrests and detentions.

The Department of Homeland Security has been ignoring due process and essentially kidnapping immigrants from their jobs, visa appointments, court dates, and the like. The administration continues to escalate, building new detention centers and sending throngs of ICE agents into Democratic-led cities to terrorize the communities.

ICE agents have been terrorizing blue cities across the country for months now, but their use of violence is growing, as evidenced by the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good, a queer wife and mother who was driving away when agent Jonathan Ross shot her in the face three times.

In response to Good’s death, out Rep. Angie Craig (D-MN) has announced she is part of a small group of Congress members who plan to introduce an impeachment resolution against Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.

“ICE Barbie is not doing her job,” Craig declared on MS Now. “It’s lawless… She’s not following any of our immigration laws in this country. She’s following no protocols with respect to immigration enforcement.”

Noem even claimed in May that “due process does not guarantee a hearing,” despite the 5th and 14th Amendments of the Constitution guaranteeing just that.

Noem “has told this agency to go rogue, to not follow the law,” Craig told MS Now.

In a separate interview, Craig compared Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to Nazis after agents attacked a teacher who serves students with special needs. “I don’t think any city in America, or any state in America, has ever seen this type of lawless behavior by federal law enforcement,” Craig said.

“Every American should be outraged. Every Minnesotan should be outraged, and at the same time, we should continue to peacefully protest what’s happening. I’ve never seen such an out-of-control agency.”
