October 23 2025, 08:15 Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Heather Gay is set to speak to a former gay conversion therapist as part of her eye-opening docuseries Surviving Mormonism.
The Bravo star will reportedly feature in the limited three-part series, premiering on 11 November, where she will uncover the dark history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
As part of the series, Gay, 51, will speak to former Mormon David Matheson, who has been described as the “Godfather of conversion therapy.” Now out as a gay man himself, Matheson will detail the harmful teachings he once practiced.
So-called conversion therapy is the medically discredited attempt to forcefully change one’s sexuality or gender identity, often through traumatic psychological torture. It is impossible to change a person’s sexuality or gender identity.

Gay has been vocal about her decision to distance herself from the Mormon Church, particularly in her memoir Bad Mormon, which she published in 2023.
In her latest series touching upon her own experiences, she has impactful conversations with ex-Mormons and abuse survivors, who share their own history and subsequent departure from the Church.
It aims to bring awareness of the often abusive underbelly of the Mormon Church, and hopes to “enact change” through the insights of those who have faced it head on.

The series is produced by Intellectual Property Corporation (IPC), with Gay herself serving as an executive producer. Fellow producers include IPC’s Eli Holzman and Aaron Saidman.
Gay will speak to Matheson in part one of the limited series, airing at 9:15 PM ET/PT on Bravo and the next day on Peacock.
In part two, airing on Peacock on 12 November, she reflects on the guilt of turning her back on an old friend who she says was critical of the Mormon Church, while speaking to abuse survivors whose stories “rocks her to her core.”
The final part, also airing on Peackock on 12 November, sees Gay speak to two sister who suffered “indescribable abuse” from their father, which was ignored by high-ranking members of the Church.
