Transgender Colorado state candidate Vivian Smotherman loses election

Colorado State Sen. Cleave Simpson (R) has won his race against transgender Democrat Vivian Smotherman by a margin of 10%, The Durango Herald has reported.
Smotherman reportedly called Simpson to concede early Tuesday evening.
“My opponent is a decent human being,” Smotherman told LGBTQ Nation in September, “and at this point he has all but alienated himself from his own party because he’s not as insane and crazy as they are, and they have disowned him.”
