As Donald Trump tried to perform some contrition over the deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti – both of whom were killed while legally observing federal anti-immigration agents in Minnesota – he let it slip that he is still fundamentally only concerned with himself.

“Bottom line, it was terrible, both of them were terrible,” he told Fox host Will Cain while discussing Pretti getting shot at least ten times by federal agents after he had been pepper-sprayed and wrestled to the ground. “I’m not sure about his parents, but I know her parents were big Trump fans.”

“It makes me feel bad anyway, but I guess you could say, even worse, they were tremendous Trump people, Trump fans, and you know, their daughter was, she was, I don’t know if you could say ‘radicalized,’ maybe radicalized, maybe not. But I hate to see it, I hate to see it.”

Trump described Renee Good as a “professional agitator,” and his administration has accused her of “domestic terrorism” because she was observing ICE agents as they attempted to abduct people.

But this isn’t the first time he has found a moment to mention that Good’s parents supported him.

“They’re going to make mistakes sometimes. ICE is going to be too rough with somebody, or they’re dealing with rough people,” Trump said last week at a White House press briefing. “When I learned her parents, and her father in particular, I hope he still is, but I don’t know, were tremendous Trump fans. He was all for Trump. Loved Trump, and it’s terrible.”

“I was told that by a lot of people. They said, ‘Oh, he loves you.’ He was. I hope he still feels that way.”

Tony Dokoupil, an anchor on the conservative CBS Evening News, told Trump earlier this month that he had talked to Good’s father, Timothy Good, and that he said he is a Trump supporter.
